Dr. Gail Weingast: A Career Fueled by Passion for Radiology

Dr. Gail Weingast’s four-decade career in radiology is a shining example of passion driving professional excellence. As Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, she has spent over 20 years elevating the hospital’s radiology department to national prominence.

Her journey began in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Tufts University’s Jackson College, an unlikely starting point for a medical career. By 1976, she earned her MD from Boston University School of Medicine, followed by intensive training in pediatrics, radiology, and ultrasound. From residencies at Colorado General Hospital to specialized training at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver by 1984, Dr. Weingast built a robust foundation.
